System has three consolidation pistons: two circular for use with 120-cm and 85-cm bore tubs, and a rectangular piston for use with the plane strain box. Accommodations exist for incorporating downward hydraulic gradient equipment, should this prove to be required.
Vacuum chamber capable of maintaining 15-psi vacuum. Internal dimensions are 110 cm x 140 cm x 95 cm tall. The system is equipped with multiple ports for passage of any type fluid.
Two-dimensional actuator capable of movement in the y and z direction. The system can also be easily converted to operate in the third direction (x). The actuator is designed to fit on top of any of the centrifuge containers. Maximum movement in the y direction is 100 cm, and maximum movement in the z direction is 50 cm.
