PHASE XI

Determination of the performance of semi-lightweight high-volume fly ash concrete.
Test prisms installed at Treat Island . . . . . . . . . 1990

This phase was undertaken to determine the comparative performance of semi-lightweight, high-volume fly-ash concrete made with aggregates from sources in Canada, Germany, and the U.S.A. As in Phase X, all three aggregates were of the expanded shale type with a nominal maximum size of 12.5 mm. The concrete was air-entrained, and a high dosage of HRWRA was used to obtain high slumps (175 mm).
