PHASE X

Determination of the performance of semi-lightweight concrete incorporating silica fume.
Test prisms installed at Treat Island . . . . . . . . . 1988

This phase was undertaken to determine the comparative performance of semi-lightweight silica-fume concrete made with lightweight aggregates from sources in Canada, Germany, and the U.S.A. All three aggregates were of the expanded shale type and in each case, the nominal maximum size was 12.5 mm. The water-to-cementitious materials ratio was 0.40 with cement and silica fume content of 415 and 30 kg/m3, respectively. The concrete was air-entrained and contained a HRWRA.
