and the freezing and thawing action on the flexural strength and other properties of various fiber concretes. Half the beams were cracked for testing. The beams were made from five different concrete mixtures (6 beams per mixture); natural coarse (3/8-in. max) and fine aggregate were used in all mixtures. All mixtures were air-entrained (Admixture A), and a water-reducing admixture (Admixture B) was used in all mixtures. Type III portland cement was used in the amount of 8.9 cwt per cu yd with a water-cement ratio of 0.5 in all mixtures.
In January 1975, 30 concrete beams (3½- by 4½- by 16-in.) were installed at half-tide elevation on the exposure rack at Treat Island, Maine, to determine the effects of the seawater
