In August 1976, 18 concrete beams (6- by 6- by 24-in.) were installed on the Treat Island exposure rock for the U.S. Army Engineer Division, New England.These specimens represent three concrete mixes used for two construction jobs. |
Mixtures 1 and 2 were used for the Charles River Dam, Boston, Mass., and Mixture 3 was used for Smelt Brook Local Protection Project, Weymouth, Mass. Type II Portland cement was used in the three mixes.Mixtures 1 and 2 contain coarse and fine ag-gregates "A" (1½ in. maximum size), water reducer, and air-entraining Admixture "A." Mixture 3 contains coarse and fine aggregates "B" (¾-in. maximum size) water reducer, and air-entraining Admixture "B." | |
